Post November Gratitude

Apparently, I needed a little blogging break and didn't even know it.  I'm not sure that I've every gone as long between posts as I did between now and and my previous post - a whole month - and I'm already feeling rusty from the absence o[...]

Preparing for November and 30 Days of Thanks

Fall is flying by.  It seems like only just recently we were choosing pumpkins at a pumpkin patch and now I realized we need to carve them tonight because tomorrow is Halloween!  I cannot believe that October is ending.  Act[...]

Post-Thanksgiving Gratitude

This is my last thankful post for 30 Days of Thanks.  On Thanksgiving there was so much to be thankful for: both girls cooperating so that Chris and I could sleep in until 9:30(!), of course delicious food, Chris being home with us whe[...]

Thankful for New Beginnings

Another week of thanks has flown by and it is nearly the end of this little project.  If this year is anything like last year, it will feel very strange December 1st to not post what I am thankful for and to not be able to read other peopl[...]

30 Days of Thanks Time Warp

I thought I might take a moment to throw up a post for those of you (hi Grandma!) who don't use Facebook or Instagram.  I have been doing 30 Days of Thanks there but haven't had too much time to blog so I'm going to play a little catch up[...]

30 Days of Thanks: How Things Turned Out

I posted a silly Instagram yesterday about being thankful for bucket car seats so I could get things done while Zara snoozed, but in reality the past few days I have been thankful for much, much bigger things.  You see, one year ago today[...]

30 Days of Thanks: Ms. J

Today I am thankful for our wonderful mother's helper/babysitter. "Ms. J" comes to our house two mornings a week which enables me to catch up on cleaning, work on websites, and even go to regular P.E.O. meetings again.  The girls love h[...]

30 Days of Thanks: My Mom

Today, I am thankful for my mom.  She was the very best mom she could be through some really tough situations, and she never gave up on me.  We definitely had some rocky moments when I was a teenager (boy, do I have karma coming to me[...]

It's that time again... Girl Scout cookies! And this year we have two selling. Help them meet their cookies sales goals by ordering online.

If you live nearby, choose girl delivery and help get cookie boxes out of our garage... Otherwise we're going to be giving them Girl Scout Cookies for birthday and Christmas presents all year.

Bus stop selfie with Nora. This week she moved from her tiny charter school with only 18 eighth graders to the public middle school with over 200. And now she rides the bus.

The charter school wasn't challenging her enough, has a huge percentage of students who are disruptive in the classroom, and has been having trouble keeping teachers. Last year she loved it. But this year it was one thing after another, so right before Thanksgiving she and I went to go tour our neighborhood middle school, and she immediately wanted to make the switch.

We've never had a kid in public school and I was nervous about how the transition would go from such a small school to a big one, but so far she's loving it and is glad she decided to move schools. It helps that she knows kids there already from her dance team. Hopefully she'll still be happy when she starts getting homework. Coming from a no homework school that may be a shock to us all.

Halloween 2022. Two witches, a murderous cat, and a creepy Victorian doll.

Zara's costume was my favorite this year - Nora did her makeup and she wore my flower girl dress from my mom and step-dad's wedding. She might have worn it better. 😂
