Hello, Is Anyone Out There?

It has been 1 year, 9 months and 3 days since I last published a blog post on this website. At that time, we had just moved from Colorado to Texas and I thought that I was going to revive my blog. I wrote a handful for posts, but then life and[...]

Logistics of a Cross-Country Move for a Family of 5 With One Week Notice

The last time I published a post, it was about why we spontaneously decided to move to Texas.  This week I thought it might be interesting to share HOW we made that cross-country move happen in almost no time at all. Deciding to Move in[...]

If It’s Not Working, Fix It

Chris and I have been married for 11 years.  In those 11 years, we have lived in 5 states all across the country - one, twice. That means we've moved a lot.  In fact, for every state we've lived in, we've lived in twice as many hou[...]

Spring on the Farm

It's beginning to feel a lot like spring around here.  As much as I think that I've enjoyed living places with 4 seasons, I'll admit that I've also been enjoying living in a place where tank tops and dresses are possible during late Februar[...]

Adventuring into a New Year – Wordlessly

Today, Zara turned three.  That means it has been almost three years since we moved off Nantucket.  It means that we have now lived off island post Nantucket for the same amount of time that we called ourselves Nantucketers.  Eve[...]

A Peek Inside Our New House

We've been living in our new house for ten days and it is mostly put together now.  The past two weeks from our expected close date to the actual close date to moving mid-week was pretty stressful, but as of yesterday we've felt pretty sett[...]

Why I Didn’t Make Halloween Costumes This Year

Every year since Nora could understand Halloween, I have made her a homemade Halloween costume.  When Zara came along, I increased to making homemade costumes for two and loved it.  Especially when they went together perfectly.[...]

First Day of First Grade

This morning my biggest girl started 1st grade.  She moved from the primary classroom to an elementary classroom at her Montessori school, which means she will be learning alongside not just other first graders, but also second, third[...]

We had a cold snap and yesterday we had to get all bundled up for Zara's soccer game. It was 30 degrees and, despite these pictures, Vivi's patience for being out there did not last long. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 80 degrees and we're really looking forward to warmth again.

By the way, my awesome gaiter came from our client @isacattostudio. Isa paints patterns and makes really beautiful textiles and notebooks with her patterns. ♥️ her work and team.

Yesterday we got our first taste of summer. It was warm enough that we got out the sprinkler in the afternoon. I worked most of the day but had a nice break for a couple hours in the afternoon during which I sat outside listening to music and watching the 4 of them dance in the yard. I couldn't ask for much more on a Monday.

Walking around the neighborhood with Z and I'm reliving my first experience with entrepreneurship: @girlscouts cookie sales. My mom was our troop leader (all the way through Juniors) and I remember our garage piled high with boxes and boxes of cookies.

It's fun watching Z try her hand at sales. She is fearless and no problem describing every cookie to complete strangers. Despite having never done it before, she has an incredibly aggressive goal of selling 1500 boxes of cookies. If any kid can do it, though, I think she can.
