Hello, Is Anyone Out There?

It has been 1 year, 9 months and 3 days since I last published a blog post on this website. At that time, we had just moved from Colorado to Texas and I thought that I was going to revive my blog. I wrote a handful for posts, but then life and[...]

Saying Hello

It's been 416 days since I took down my website, to take, what I thought would be, a 6 month hiatus from blogging.  It was both an easy and hard decision, but most certainly the right one for where my life was in January of last year. Si[...]

Getting Back On The Horse

After days...weeks...a month of not blogging, the thought of starting up again feels overwhelming. In the beginning, it was easy to let days slip past in a blur of road trips, family visits, and holidays, but once settled back into our routin[...]

Staying in the Room

The longer I go between blog posts, the harder it gets to start back up again. A lapse in blogging starts with family.   A welcome visit from one of my brothers and my maternal grandmother, who came bearing gifts and[...]

Exciting Changes

Over the past couple months, in between and around client sites, parenting, World Breastfeeding Week and the rest of, well, life, I have been secretly cooking up some changes for my own blog.  For a while now, I've felt like the plumber wi[...]

Why I Blog

I've been journaling for almost as long as I remember.  By 7 or 8,  I flirted with it, going weeks of writing each day in a pink diary complete with lock and key before gradually dying out, only to resume a month or two later wit[...]

Bath time with ambiance a la #ERCOT.

Luckily we have not been affected by the water issues so many others have experienced. I finally decided to bathe the little girls for the first time in over a week (with a tiny amount of water, I promise) and the power went out again. We got out a lantern and decided to just roll with it. At least it's not below 30 anymore and I managed to get the diapers washed earlier today when we thought things were back to normal.

Maybe this is the universe's way of making sure I don't stay up until 2AM working?

#snowpocalypse and poor planning on the part of the Texas Electric grid means we're experiencing a candle lit evening. So far every one is still having fun and it's not too cold in here yet so we're calling it an adventure.

Well this is something I never thought I would see... a second real snow in the same winter. This one is light and powdery and is promising to hang around for most of the week thanks to freezing temperatures. There are no plows or salt/sand trucks down here so we're all locked in and enjoying an old fashioned snow day.

I figured I had to bundle Vivienne up and take her picture in the snow just so I can prove to her that once we had a real winter in Texas.

Zara made a #texassnowman - tiny, full of grass and leaves, but a legit snowman. 😂 We have the fastest snowflakes I've ever seen falling down here right now and could get up to 4 inches! The girls are over the moon.
