Chocolate Whole-Wheat Waffles

One of the less realized impacts of Chris' crazy schedule back in Wyoming was that we had moved away from cooking and eating big breakfasts together as a family.  Since we never had dinner together on Nantucket, we had developed a giant[...]

Buttermilk Biscuits + Our Lovely New Kitchen

I am in love with our new kitchen. It's light and bright.  It's big and spacious.  It's the first kitchen we have ever had that actually fits every one of our appliances, kitchen tools and cooking utensils, with room to spare.[...]

Cherry Breakfast Biscuits

Chris had to work Father's Day, but we still managed to surprise him with a little morning celebration, started off with a card Nora picked out all on her own.  It is Snoopy and pop-up which she loved instantly, but when I read it after bu[...]

Carrot-Cheddar Skillet Cakes

You'd think that being home all day would give me plenty of time to cook up an intricate, multi-dish dinner.  Not so.  When I'm chasing after a two year old all day, there is surprisingly little time left for meal planning, let alo[...]

Super Veggie Bread

An Amber Original See more recipes here There's a lot of discussion in the parenting world about hiding vegetables from our kids. Is it good? Is it bad? Do you do it or not? As vegetarians, we're pretty firmly in the camp that has obvious[...]

Strawberry Crumb Muffins

Adapted from Janae Monir See more recipes here While we were flush with strawberries after two weekends of picking, I also happened across a rather delicious looking recipe for Blueberry Crumb Cake.  Being the baker that I am, I decided[...]

We had a cold snap and yesterday we had to get all bundled up for Zara's soccer game. It was 30 degrees and, despite these pictures, Vivi's patience for being out there did not last long. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 80 degrees and we're really looking forward to warmth again.

By the way, my awesome gaiter came from our client @isacattostudio. Isa paints patterns and makes really beautiful textiles and notebooks with her patterns. ♥️ her work and team.

Yesterday we got our first taste of summer. It was warm enough that we got out the sprinkler in the afternoon. I worked most of the day but had a nice break for a couple hours in the afternoon during which I sat outside listening to music and watching the 4 of them dance in the yard. I couldn't ask for much more on a Monday.

Walking around the neighborhood with Z and I'm reliving my first experience with entrepreneurship: @girlscouts cookie sales. My mom was our troop leader (all the way through Juniors) and I remember our garage piled high with boxes and boxes of cookies.

It's fun watching Z try her hand at sales. She is fearless and no problem describing every cookie to complete strangers. Despite having never done it before, she has an incredibly aggressive goal of selling 1500 boxes of cookies. If any kid can do it, though, I think she can.
