A Toast

1045044_595735103805207_1756247240_n

This evening was one of the best I have had in a very long time.  I am so far behind on blogging, it’s not even funny…but that’s life — and, who am I kidding, that’s one of the benefits of writing a blog without sponsors: no one gets mad if I just can’t blog for days or weeks.  I keep intending to catch up on everything that has been going on in our lives, but then more stuff keeps happening.  Eventually I’ll give up, and do a photo dump post and just throw it all in at once.  Until then, I wanted to pop in an say how incredible happy I am right at this moment.  I have two ridiculously adorable girls. I have an awesome husband.  And as of 4:45 today, we are officially homeowners.Zara helped us sign papers (mostly by chewing on pens and trying to eat everything in reach), while Nora hung out with Chris’ dad, and then we went out for a celebratory dinner at Chris’ restaurant with his dad, my step-mom, grandma, and one of my brothers.  We didn’t take a single picture (aside from one of Zara gumming on shrimp) because we were just having way too much fun enjoying food and wine and each other’s company.  After a three hour epic meal of awesomeness, we grabbed a bottle of our wedding champagne

(and our first goofy housewarming present) and headed over to our new house for a celebratory toast.

We ran all around our empty house, showing it off, and even managed to figure out how to work the timer on my camera.  It was amazing.

I can’t believe what a wonderful evening this turned out to be…and that six years into marriage, only five months into our life in Wyoming, we now own a house.  This chapter of our life is turning out to be pretty spectacular.  So, here’s to the high desert plains, where we never expected to end up, but where we have already found many amazing things including a home of our own.

It's that time again... Girl Scout cookies! And this year we have two selling. Help them meet their cookies sales goals by ordering online.

If you live nearby, choose girl delivery and help get cookie boxes out of our garage... Otherwise we're going to be giving them Girl Scout Cookies for birthday and Christmas presents all year.

Bus stop selfie with Nora. This week she moved from her tiny charter school with only 18 eighth graders to the public middle school with over 200. And now she rides the bus.

The charter school wasn't challenging her enough, has a huge percentage of students who are disruptive in the classroom, and has been having trouble keeping teachers. Last year she loved it. But this year it was one thing after another, so right before Thanksgiving she and I went to go tour our neighborhood middle school, and she immediately wanted to make the switch.

We've never had a kid in public school and I was nervous about how the transition would go from such a small school to a big one, but so far she's loving it and is glad she decided to move schools. It helps that she knows kids there already from her dance team. Hopefully she'll still be happy when she starts getting homework. Coming from a no homework school that may be a shock to us all.

Halloween 2022. Two witches, a murderous cat, and a creepy Victorian doll.

Zara's costume was my favorite this year - Nora did her makeup and she wore my flower girl dress from my mom and step-dad's wedding. She might have worn it better. ๐Ÿ˜‚
