30 Days of Thanks, Report Card

I haven’t run the gauntlet recently because, as I’ve mentioned, I haven’t really been meeting all my goals lately.  I’ve been buying fancy produce, eggs, dairy, and cheese at the grocery store like there’s no tomorrow.  I skipped out on yoga again this morning because I finally decided it was time to get the laundry out of baskets and into drawers. It only took about four days for me to get sick on my living room looking like the apocalypse hit it.  That pile on the chair?  It had been gradually shrinking over the past week not as I put things away, but as we dug through it looking for things to wear.  I know my mom is probably horrified right now.  Sorry, mom.

Luckily, Nora was pretty good about entertaining herself while I folded for, oh, about an hour. Her clothes are put away, ours are in a basket in our room, one step closer to our dressers.  (In defense of my housewifery skills,I have to say I was totally going to put it away tonight, but Chris went to bed early.)

I’ve been a little bit less motivated about housey-type stuff lately.  There’s just been so much going on.  I’ve been working on a ton of different websites (still have two in the works, maybe more!) and was honored to be asked to speak at Petticoat Row‘s November networking event.

Petticoat Row is the women’s business association on Nantucket.  They asked me to speak about social media marketing and blogging, which was a lot of fun.  It got me thinking that I should try to teach a class or two on the subject through the Community School, so I may try to do that this winter.  You know, because I’m not already really busy.

I’m so thankful that they asked me to speak.  It was a great experience and it was wonderful to be able to introduce myself and my business to so many influential women, not to mention, it just feels nice to have someone tell you they recognize all the hard work you’re doing.

Besides having a chance to get stuff done around here, I’m also thankful for a lovely day with Nora, our favorite radio station on Pandora, a dinner which essentially cooked itself made from Chris’ delicious homemade enchilada sauce (thawed out from the freezer) and leftover tortillas from breakfast, and fresh baked herb bread.

[…] In the wee hours of the morning last night (this morning?), I finished a website for Petticoat Row, a Nantucket business women’s association. I was so excited to work on this website.  Not only was it fun to try my hand at new layouts and designs, but I also was happy to help out such a great association.  Petticoat Row of Nantucket seeks to connect and empower our island’s women in business.  They offer monthly networking events with great speakers, workshops, and the best support you can imagine for someone starting or managing a business.  The founders of Petticoat Row have been incredibly supportive of me and my business ventures: besides asking me to build their website, they also have offered great support and advice for Papoose, and I was honored to speak at their November meeting. Z was Raja in an Aladdin production through her dance studio @pasgeorgetown this evening and she did such a great job. I loved watching her. She took a year off dance and is getting back into it and you'd barely know she took any time off, plus she had a big smile on her face the whole time - I could tell she was having a ton of fun. ♥️

What happens when you go on a long weekend trip with only your husband, no kids, and no agenda?

Lots of walking, cocktails in the middle of the day, singing at a piano bar, and time to write a blog post for the first time in nearly two years. Which I did!

😮 For real. LOL 😊

Today Chris and I have been married for 15 years. We're celebrating with our first weekend away from children while my mom watches all four girls. We rented an old Victorian from the 1800s near the coast in Galveston, Texas and spent the day at a spa, eating delicious food, walking the beach under the stars, and finished the night with a bottle of bourbon saved from when we lived on Nantucket. I'm not sure I could have asked for a much better day. I even had an oppotunity to get out the lightship basket purse Chris gave me for our 5th anniversary. ♥️

We had a cold snap and yesterday we had to get all bundled up for Zara's soccer game. It was 30 degrees and, despite these pictures, Vivi's patience for being out there did not last long. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 80 degrees and we're really looking forward to warmth again.

By the way, my awesome gaiter came from our client @isacattostudio. Isa paints patterns and makes really beautiful textiles and notebooks with her patterns. ♥️ her work and team.
