Christmas in July

All of a sudden, if seems like packages are dropping out of the air around here.  First was a large shipment of clothing (mostly for me), then came a parade of boxes (5!) from my mother, which will be followed any day now by a box marked with Chris’ two favorite words: New Egg.  We aren’t doing anything too out of the ordinary as far as shopping goes, but when you live somewhere without chain retail, it’s sometimes impossible not to shop online.  Nora’s been loving all the “presents” and gets giddy with excitement each time a new box appears on our doorstep.  She loves opening them and “oohing” and “ahhing” and “OH BOYing” the contents, no matter what they are.  Socks from Grandma Shari and Grandpa Derick?  She loved them and wore them around the house on her hands and feet.  I swear, thanks to my mom, she is well on her way to receiving more gifts for no reason than she did for Christmas.

My mom sent her more adorable clothes and shoes.  She sent her a gardening set.  She picked up some play dishes for me at Ikea.  And she sent this incredibly tacky, yet somehow ridiculously cute inflatable swimming pool.

(And a super cute bathing suit to wear in it.)

It’s a giant crab (though Nora calls it a monster).  It so belongs in the “unnecessary” category, and I felt a little bit lightheaded after I blew it up.  But it was all worth it because Nora loves it. And so does Mr. T. Thanks, Grandma!
