Weigh In

Friday was my seventh month appointment. It kind of fun going and seeing how much I weigh now since we don’t have a scale at home. 146 lbs! Four more than last month and my belly is 29 cm. The doctor said I have a “cute little boy belly” (meaning it’s all out in front). We’ll see if the only-out-in-front look holds up – given my recent taste for ice cream and whole milk yogurt, I’m surprised that only converted into a pound per week. I’m definitely into the dairy right now…never before could I drink whole glasses of milk and I’m having a much harder time controlling myself around ice cream – especially since Chris and I discovered Mary Jane’s Dairy Bar. Mary Jane’s is this fabulous place in Newburgh (about 20 minutes south of us). They have tons of delicious fried stuff, burgers (veggie ones, too), and homemade soft and hard ice cream and gelato. It’s in one of those old style buildings with a flat roof – Tasty-Freeze-esque for the Iowans – and is always packed. It’s all I can do not to drive down there right now. 🙂

Speaking of food, Chris rocked his practical! He got a 95 and also the highest score of all the students testing that day. He’s cooking in the American Bounty restaurant now, but getting very close to the July break. He got a job offer from Painter’s Tavern, but didn’t accept it as it was ridiculously low. The chef wanted to talk to him about it, so there may be some possibility of a counter offer. Also, he will be interviewing at Junction 52 in Hopewell Junction, NY. I scoped it out for him last week after a job/education fair and really enjoyed it. The bread pudding was delicious! Keep your fingers crossed that he’ll find something good!

Z was Raja in an Aladdin production through her dance studio @pasgeorgetown this evening and she did such a great job. I loved watching her. She took a year off dance and is getting back into it and you'd barely know she took any time off, plus she had a big smile on her face the whole time - I could tell she was having a ton of fun. ♥️

What happens when you go on a long weekend trip with only your husband, no kids, and no agenda?

Lots of walking, cocktails in the middle of the day, singing at a piano bar, and time to write a blog post for the first time in nearly two years. Which I did!

😮 For real. LOL 😊

Today Chris and I have been married for 15 years. We're celebrating with our first weekend away from children while my mom watches all four girls. We rented an old Victorian from the 1800s near the coast in Galveston, Texas and spent the day at a spa, eating delicious food, walking the beach under the stars, and finished the night with a bottle of bourbon saved from when we lived on Nantucket. I'm not sure I could have asked for a much better day. I even had an oppotunity to get out the lightship basket purse Chris gave me for our 5th anniversary. ♥️
