Back to Normal

The Brotherhood is open again today and I won’t lie, I’m pretty sad about it.

I’m glad that I’ll have another awesome option for dinner, but I’m also sad that Chris is back to work, for several reasons:

Yes, he is THAT amazing.ย  I don’t know how you people who didn’t marry chefs survive.

It’s more than that, though.ย  It was so wonderful to have him at home — he did an unbelievable amount of work on his vacation (the three C’s — childcare, cooking, and cleaning) so that I could have a vacation of sorts, too.ย  And it was just generally nice to be able to see him for more than a few waking hours each day.ย  I know Nora loved having her Dada home and I really did too.ย  We had a slow easing back to normal this week; he was at the restaurant getting ready during the days and home in the evenings, but today it’s back to normal and I’m sad. [JPG]We want more Dada time.

It is too bad that Feb. is such a short month. ๐Ÿ™ But if you think about it (and this isn’t to discredit or lessen what you’re feeling) lots of folks only get 1-2 weeks of vacation a year and work so far from home that the hours they spend away from their family is as great or greater (I think of all those Poughkeepsie commuters who spend 2+ hrs each way going to work in NYC…). At least Christ is a short walk away and you can go to the Brotherhood! Getting a nice meal there is certainly a decent employment benefit. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hang in there!
