Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter*
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 350.

In medium bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Stir in the pumpkin and vanilla.

In separate bowl, stir together the flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon; stir into the creamed mixture.

Stir in chocolate chips and drop onto cookie sheet.  Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes.  Allow to cool for a minute or two before transferring to wire racks.  Makes approximately4 dozen cookies.

*Dana, from MADE, used vegetable shortening, which would make these cookies vegan (notice the absence of eggs…which is why Nora got to lick the bowl).  I think butter has so much more flavor and is less processed, but shorting would work okay, too, if you’re looking for a vegan option or if you’re just out of butter.
