State Forest State Park: Camping with Views.

Camping spots with a view.

Back before we were outnumbered by kids and running a business full time, I used to be really good at making Shutterfly memory books and giving them to the grandparents. I still get emails from them every now and then with “memories from X years ago.” This was in my memories email this week…our very first camping trip as a family in May 2015.  That’s a tiny Nora.

We went to State Forest State Park in northwest Colorado. It’s still one of my favorite places to camp. Great spots, including dispersed camping where you don’t have to be near anyone, and lots of hiking. We liked it so much we went back again the following year and it would definitely be in my backpacking bucket list once we don’t have little kids anymore and can get further from roads.

As much as I love traveling with our travel trailer, I don’t really consider it camping. It makes long trips and adventure possible, but we don’t often get to sleep in spots like this. I guess I’m a tent girl at heart.
