I’m @google in Austin today for one of my favorite clients @LWTech’s Austin Roadshow.
Chris and I went the Lesbians Who Tech NY Summit last September and it was one of the coolest (and most fun) conferences I’ve been too. LWT events are also the most diverse events that I have ever been to. So many of the conferences I’ve attended in tech are packed with a predominately white male speaker roster – here there are majority women, significant representation from persons of color, and also lots of LGBTQ+ folks. It makes for a completely different conference experience – in a phenomenal way – and though I don’t do a much coding these days, I love to participate in organizations that are helping to support women in STEM. There were so many years when I went to dev meetups and was the only woman in the room; I love to think that through our work with Lesbians Who Tech we’re helping to change that.
