Rediscovering the Beauty of Iowa

The week that we spent in #iowa this past summer really gave me a fresh appreciation for my home state.  I haven’t lived in Cedar Rapids, where I grew up, since high school, and somehow it’s worked out that I’ve only visited over the winter months since then. I had completely forgotten how beautiful it is.  Or perhaps as a child and I teenager, I never really recognized the beauty in the first place.  It’s so green and lush! The rolling hills and cornfields stole my heart away and, for the first time, I understand why people live here. We spent a week in Iowa, between Des Moines and and Cedar Rapids, seeing one of my brothers and his family + my dad, my stepmom, and one of my grandmas.  It was wonderful to watch the girls spend time with that side of my family, but I think the part I marvelled most at was the refresher I got on Iowa landscapes… . . . #family #hometown #corn #field #sunset #latergram #summer #roadtrip
