Thankful for Outgoingness and Confidence Today

#30daysofthanks day 3. Long preamble: this photo was too funny not too share. Today (I just now stopped working so I’m still operating as if it’s the 3rd), I spent the day at the Northern Colorado #SBDC Women’s Conference. #sbdcwomens2016 was such a blast! I spoke with tons of amazing women entrepreneurs and got to share my two passions @roadwarriorwp and @alliedwomen with them. Also I got to try out a 50’s(?) era weight loss machine which was pretty funny.
Which leads me to what I was most thankful for today: my outgoingness and confidence.
We don’t often think about individual traits that we have and how they contribute to our lives, and I don’t mean to sound arrogant, but through some combination of genetics and environment, I turned out to be the kind of person who loves standing at a table all day talking to strangers. Nora asked me this evening if I felt scared talking to “all those people,” and it really made me think about it.
Back when I worked in graduate admissions, I loved working the grad school fairs and advising all the random prospective students. Now, I love going to AWE meetings, WordPress meet ups and events like the one today.
I can guarantee you that if I didn’t have this love of connecting with others innately in me, my business would not be where it is today.
Road Warrior is doing incredible things for our family and I’m thankful to have had the genetics, parenting, educational and career opportunities (and who knows what else) that led up to this. I have had plenty of moments when I had a hard time finding happiness in myself, so when Nora ask me if I was scared, I felt proud to not only be able to say no but also to be able to see the larger value of that in my business and life. Out of all the things I’ve struggled with, I’m thankful shyness was not one of them.
