Our weekend was overflowing with chickens, horses, cows, pigs, and goats. Saturday, we had a La Leche League fundraiser and World Breastfeeding Celebration at a local farm. The event went wonderfully and our fundraiser went really well, but I was also excited for the opportunity to discover Laughing Buck Farm. They have a really neat farm preschool there that I would love to send Zara to when she gets to the right age, and the self-sustaining part of me was in love with the entire thing. I spent all night dreaming about cows and chickens and living off the land.
Sunday, we were a little closer in town at a city-owned farm (in one of the parks) for a birthday party. Nora was thrilled to get to ride a pony and Zara was over the moon with joy at all the animals. She is really starting to figure animals out and was mooing and baaing and quaking right along with the cows and sheep and ducks. Then, she cracked us all up when we got to the goats and I said, “What does a goat say?”
To which she responded, “ROAR!”
I guess we still need to work on that one.
