We’ve finally started exploring our town and finding lots of fun things to do.  Sunday, I made good on my promise to keep walking and walked the girls to a park and the library.  There were lots of fun things to see along the way.I really am quite pleased with our location.  There wasn’t much for us to chose from when it came to rentals (I think there were all of three rental houses when I looked on Craig’s List), but it turned out that where we ended up is not only close to a lot of things, but also in a nice part of town filled with a ton of sculptures and art.Nora had fun running through the cold and investigating each “decoration” as we walked up the street.Zara, of course, couldn’t care less about the art, but I think she was just as appreciative of the much-needed fresh air.  She passed right out in the stroller and slept for about four hours straight. After a short little stop to explore a new playground, and some time at her favorite place, we headed back home and to check out a neat pedestrian bridge along the way.I love this bridge; it’s gorgeous. Nora loved it, because it was good for running. And I loved it because it was good for photography.

When we first moved out here I’ll admit I wasn’t very happy about the landscape.   I miss the waves and trees, and I especially miss the lack of strip malls and ugly box stores.  Already though, the places is starting to grow on me.  I’m sure that in the middle of summer I’ll be desperate for a good shade tree, but until then I’m realizing the particular kind of beauty that accompanies high desert plains under a big sky, and I’m doing my very best to find architecture to love, too.  It may sometimes still feel like a completely foreign place, but this is home and the only thing to do is love it.
