Hugs and Kisses

We don’t normally do Valentine’s Day.  Chris and I don’t buy each other elaborate gifts or plan fancy dinners out or exchange big boxes of HFCS-filled candy in the name of Hallmark Valentine’s Day.  But this year, we enjoyed celebrating love family-style.  Yesterday, my little baker and I made Cookie Truffle Kisses as a surprise for Chris.  Like all good chefs, Nora made sure to taste everything to make sure it was good enough to give to Dada.

She almost convinced me that he wouldn’t like it and we would need to get rid of them…somehow…

Then, we started the day with some gifts from my ever thoughtful mom, dad, and Grandma Norma.Nora loved opening everything, even the cards.  She let out an excited squeal when she saw that her card had a dog on it.It was love at first sight for her new stuffed bearand was fascinated but a little wary for the singing stuffed…thing. This afternoon we did a Valentine’s day art project. And then we ate a red dinner on a heart- and kiss-strewn table. It was nerdy-mom-fun to plan thematic food and crafts, and to see how into it Nora got.  Of course now I am totally sold on Valentines Day and am already looking forward to next year!
