This last weekend was beautiful. It was sunny and in the 80’s Saturday and in the upper 70’s yesterday, which was perfect for playing outside.
And introducing Nora to bunny rabbits, just in time for Easter. I, like any good mom, took tons of picture of her with rabbits in honor of the holiday, but also because I just happen to really love them. When I was a kid, I had a massive collection of everything rabbit – stuffed animals, figurines, cards, posters – you name it, I had it (and I still have a few of the nicer ones, which now grace Nora’s room). It’ll be interesting to see what animal/thing Nora attaches herself to.
But, I disgress; back to the weather: it was wonderful. Yesterday, we had a slow Easter morning, with a visit from the Easter Bunny and then just hanging around the house as Chris enjoyed one of his first days without work in weeks. In the afternoon, we had a true family outing to the dog park, Pip’s favorite place in the Hudson Valley.
And then, we went to Spice Aroma, our favorite local Indian restuarant for an Easter feast. Yum!
Nora tried, and enjoyed, tamarind chutney, somosa filling, and kheer (only a little taste ’cause of the dairy and sugar). She wasn’t too keen on the cilantro chutney or the rice. It made for a great Easter dinner and a perfect Sunday family day.
Saturday was a great start to the weekend, too. Nora and I spent the afternoon walking the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail between Gardiner and New Paltz with my friend Laura, while Chris worked his last day at Painter’s. Yes, that’s correct – his LAST day. All his job stress in the last three weeks has really paid off. On Thursday, Chris was offered a Sous Chef position at Brotherhood of Thieves on Nantucket and on Friday they confirmed with him that the money was right, so we decided to take the plunge and he accepted the offer. He worked his last day at Painter’s Saturday and this morning I gave my notice at Bard, which was a little sad, but exciting too.
This weekend’s beautiful weather really did cement the end of winter for us. From now through early May, our house will be a whirlwind of activity as we pack and plan our move to Nantucket, and as I work my last month at Bard, before becoming a housewife and stay-at-home mom on Nantucket. Who would have thought spring would get here so soon?
