Addie and I walked through rows and rows of flags set up to honor our veterans at a park near our house Friday and I tried my best to explain military service and democracy in a way a three year old would understand. She did seem to recognize the somber nature of a field filled with hundreds of flags.
This year has been a crazy rollercoaster of what mostly feels like “downs.” #hope is hard when the world feels like its falling apart and the events of just 9 months have radically changed the world my children are growing up in. But today feels like movement in the right direction.
We didn’t exactly get our blue wave, but we got @joebiden and @kamalaharris. Hopefully it’s a turning point. Certainly it’s a moment when I can look at our flag and feel pride. Now we’re counting down the days to January and looking forward to a future with leaders striving for unity instead of division.
