Vivienne’s Slow Weight Gain and Nursing Struggles

Vivienne at 1 month. I’m a few days late posting, but I swear we took this picture on the right day. I mentioned in stories a while ago that Vivi was slow to gain weight and not doing super well with nursing. Normally babies should regain their birth weight by 2 weeks, but she didn’t make that milestone until a few days before 4 weeks. It took a lot of pumping and bottle feeding expressed milk, and lots of time spent pouring over my textbooks from my lactation consultant days + pulling in another LC for a second opinion, but we finally figured out the puzzle that is getting this little girl to eating enough. We joked that #4 had to be special in her own way and make sure she got lots of attention right out the gate, but I’ll admit all the extra doctor visits and weight checks were definitely more than a little stressful. I’m happy to have that behind us…now we can work on figuring out a life routine since all our grandparent helpers have gone back home.
