Our pre-Thanksgiving camping spot on the shore of Lake Lavon in Wylie, TX.
It’s a beautiful lake and this is pretty convenient to my brother’s house, but I’m always on the fence about staying here because it’s an Army Corp. Of Engineers campground. They lock the gate at 10pm (which is annoying if you’re doing stuff in a town 30+ minutes away, and have to rush back for a curfew), and I don’t think the ACE campgrounds are as well maintained as the state parks we have stayed in…but, on the other hand, the camp sites are really spread out which means privacy and space…two things worth every penny and more.
We started mapping out our route for next summer. In a month or so, we are going to start booking camp sites. With needing to work and run our AC, we don’t do a ton of boondocking, just a night here and there.
How do you camp? Are you into national parks? State parks? RV parks? Somewhere else? I’d love to know what your favorite places to make home are. Leave me a comment, below. #tmwanders
