Meet Pocket.
We’ve been without a dog since Pip, our ~9 year old dog died last October. It was sudden and a little traumatic for everyone (we think that a cougar living out near Chris’s dad’s farm got him), and we’ve all been hugely missing having a dog, but the timing wasn’t right to get a new one right away. Between Addie being so little, taking our first big road trip in the trailer, and renovating a house, we had our hands full enough. In the last month, things have really settled down and we started talking dogs again. On Friday, Pocket popped up on @petfinder and today we drove all the way to San Antonio to get her from @snipsatx.
Pocket is a #wirehaired #dachshund mix. She’s only 8lbs, and is the first tiny dog we’ve ever owned. I grew up with 90lb dogs and gravitate towards big dogs, but this time #travelsized seemed to be key – we needed a dog that could easily ride in the cab of our truck with the 5 of us on our cross-country adventures – and being smaller than the kids was also a priority.
So far everything is going well and the girls are over the moon. She’s super sweet and playful, and is going to be the perfect little bundle of energy to keep the girls running all around the house.
