We spent the last couple days up in the mountains skiing, so this post is a day late, but since I did bookmark things this week, I thought I’d post it anyway. So here were my interesting finds of the week:
- Advice For Eating Well On A Tight Budget, From A Mom Who’s Been There, NPR — Profile of a woman teaching low-income families how to choose and cook healthy produce. It reminded me of my experience doing the SNAP challenge.
- Call Your Dad: Living Together Before Marriage Does Not Lead to Divorce, Slate — New research from the University of North Carolina–Greensboro, revealing the real factor that raises the risk of divorce: it’s not premarital cohabitation that predicts divorce. It’s age. Both good and bad news, I suppose…
- Gray Matters: Too Much Screen Time Damages the Brain, Psychology Today — Another research-based article about the impact of screen time on children.
- Inheriting Stress, NY Times — New research suggests that children can inherit stress that their parents experienced even before they were conceived.
- A Mighty Girl — I just found this website and I love it! There’s all sorts of things for “smart, confident, and courageous girls” — as a mama to girls, I love the things that they are sharing in their blog.
- You’re Drinking the Wrong Kind of Milk, Mother Jones — Very interesting look at different kinds of milk based on the type of cow it came from.
