Finds of the week:
- Beyonce Breastfed…for 10 weeks, Blacktating — I couldn’t have said it better.
- Beyond Good And Apathy: What Does It Mean To Do Good In The Age Of The Internet?, Her Bad Mother — A look at the motivation for doing good through the lens of blogging and self-interest (I.e. donating $ for every comment, etc.). Very thought provoking.
- Breastfeeding in Jordan, InCulture Parent — Not as restrictive as one might think.
- The Meat You Eat, NY Times — A summary of the responses to their contest on the ethics of eating meat, plus links to the winning essay and finalists.
- A Need For Speed: Inside Jamaica’s Sprint Factory, NPR — Chris is always going on and on about the Jamaican food the line cooks make…now I know why it’s so awesome.
- Raising a Hijab-Wearing Daughter in a World that Doesn’t Understand, InCulture Parent — This is great
- Teenage Magazines and Airbrushed, Unattainable Beauty, Motherlode — 14 y/o Julie Bluhm is sick of airbrushed girls in magazines. She’s calling on Seventeen Magazine to include real girls.
I also wanted to share a link to the journal Robin’s family set up to keep everyone updated on her recovery. Many of you have asked for an update. She was moved last week to a rehabilitation center and is moving down the long road to recovery. I know that all the positive vibes and thoughts and prayers have been a major part of the progress she has made already.
