Saturday Surfing is a new feature on Au Coeur which highlights websites/blog posts/etc. that I have found over the previous week, enjoyed, and want to share with others. There will be a variety of links in these posts – everything from current events, breastfeeding and natural parenting information, to crafts and sewing. I hope you all enjoy this feature!
- Could the ‘cuddle hormone’ make you (think you) love your mom? – LA Times article about research done to see how oxytocin (the hormone produced during birth) impacts men’s memories of their mothers. Fascinating and disturbing all at once.
- A Doula Story: On the Frontlines of Teen Pregnancy – Documentary about a Chicago Doula who works exclusively with inner-city, black, teen mothers. I had see this about a year ago and was just reminded about it this week.
- Medal of Honor for Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta – YouTube video on the White House’ YouTube channel of the award ceremony. This brings tears to my eyes. I went to high school with Sal, and am amazed at what he did for his fellow soldiers and our country. No matter how I feel about the war, I have incredible respect for our soldiers.
- Move Over, Milk Banks: Facebook and Milk Sharing – Time Magazine article about women using Facebook to connect with one another to share breastmilk. Social media for the win!
